Program Description: Ms. Peetz will speak about her career trajectory in banking as well as trends she sees for banking in 2011. Continental breakfast will be served.
Speaker Bio: Karen Peetz is a Vice Chairman with responsibility for the Financial Markets and Treasury Services Group within BNY Mellon. Since joining the company in 1998 to run the domestic corporate trust business, Karen has progressively expanded her business line responsibility. The organization she leads today serves clients globally and includes 16,000 employees located in 76 cities, 40 of which are outside of the United States.
Karen is a member of BNY Mellon's Executive Committee, the organization's most senior management body, which oversees day-to-day operations. She is the chairperson for the company's Women's Initiatives Network (WIN), which acts as a global resource for the professional development and advancement of women who work at BNY Mellon through chapters in 40 locations globally. She also serves on the company's Diversity Council.
Before joining BNY Mellon, Karen spent sixteen years with JPMorgan Chase. She has consistently been named among U.S. Banker's "25 Most Powerful Women in Banking." Karen was also the Women's Bond Club's 2008 Merit Award winner and the 2010 Financial Women's Association Private Sector Woman of the Year.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University. Karen serves on the Pennsylvania State University's Board of Trustees and the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School's Corporate Advisory Board. She is the Chairperson of the Board for United Way of New York City and is an Executive Committee and Board member for the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Karen is also a member of the Financial Services Roundtable and is on the Board of Directors for the Council of the Americas and the Private Export Funding Corporation (PEFCO).
