NEW YORK CITY—The asset class is nothing to get intimidated over, and ultimately provides great value to buyers, expert investor Heidi Burkhart, president, Dane Professional Consulting Group tells GlobeSt.com in this EXCLUSIVE story.
I’ve always wanted to conquer everything from school to sports, to just plain old life. (Weirdly, being a conqueror isn’t what little girls are expected to dream of) I always wanted to be successful and do big things and I knew that there would be obstacles to be conquered along the way. So I worked hard at school and even graduated college early but when I finally saw the finish line I had no idea what I wanted to do. A 20-year-old girl with only her college degree in hand, I left my native Ohio for New York City to accept a job in pharmaceutical sales - my ticket to conquering the city I always dreamed of.

Affordable housing is a hot topic for many to talk about but without funding there will never be enough housing to fill the need. The demand to rehabilitate or build brand new is continually in need. The supply of public funding to support the demand is never sufficient leaving the need greater than the ability to produce. This is not the fault of agencies or government officials. They are the ones who advocate so loudly for more funding.

Burkhart said. “Through fitness, you build goal setting tendencies and you build accountability because you can aesthetically see the difference in your body. When you are fitness minded you are thinking about setting goals, adhering to goals, and taking it step-by-step in order to reach them.”

Once a month, Heidi is meeting with kids from Covenant House at Chelsea Piers and this month we were totally amazed to have the New York Knick Chaplains, Pastors Kevin Cooper and John Love, join us and speak with the kids about the importance of communication. Burkhart says, "Youth is the future, I want to impress on them that it does not matter what your background is. Everyone is able to develop the tools to be successful." Over the coming months, Burkhart has a line-up of executives, professional athletes and other notable figures to speak with the kids.
As the founder and CEO of two successful companies before the age of 30, my learning curve was nothing but steep. I started Dane PCG, a NYC based affordable housing brokerage, in 2008 and by 2013 founded Saxon/Hart, an event production firm that focuses on causes to create a social impact. But despite the continued success of both my companies, I found myself struggling under their weight. I wanted to be able to say you can do it all, but it just wasn’t proving true.
